I can hardly believe it, but WOW, Rachel and I are going to be tabling at New York Comic Con this weekend! We’ve been trying to get a table for a couple years now, and this year was our lucky draw. We’re both incredibly excited to be there, and we’re looking forward to selling both Volume 1 and Volume 2 of Beyond the Western Deep at the show, along with prints and merch (including some cool PINS courtesy of the amazing Shieldmaiden and her awesome friend, Victoria)!
Expect pictures from the show next week, which will also be the GRAND FINALE of Song of the Eastern Sands! That’s right, next week is the last page of the chapter. It ends the chapter in a fun way though, and I think you’ll all really enjoy it as a fitting conclusion to this tale!
While this isn’t a main story post, I wanted to make sure Jerijune‘s hilarious in-comments-section guest art wasn’t lost amongst the Salmon Party! To provide context, reader Tronn made the following observation:
“You know, in every single scene we’ve seen Theo he has been sitting there in the same spot drinking his tea. Does his butt ever get tired? Is he in fact part of the interior decoration? I could see Tabby dusting him off and stashing him in the cupboard whenever she locks up for the night.”
Jerijune, in a matter of hours, then posted up this hilarious mini-comic that provides some insight into what happens in the Abadis Tavern after closing time:

Ha, the ninja turts have invaded comic con! Better hope Shredder doesn’t show up- although I’m sure Quinlan and Dakkan could hold their own. Or at the very least get out alive. Love your take on the modernized clothes, Rachel!

I still am amazed you and your friend pins for official merchandize. That’s outright beautiful, that is!
And of course they can hold-off Shredder. Shredder is not well known for his kill record. The real question is… how do Quinlan and Dakkan know what a ninja is?

good lick at comic con, guys! if Quin and Dak were in present day, they’d be fresh graduates, or at the very least, college seniors. I’m digging Dak’s University of Lutra shirt and Quin’s Terrian hoodie! (University of Terria, perhaps?) :D
oh, the comic took like 30 minutes to make. uploading it was the hard part. my connection’s horrible on rainy days :(

It looks like it will be paperback. I agree it will look odd next to a hard cover.
If you think that’s odd, try putting volumes 1 and 2 of the published Lackadaisy comic next to each other
I’m looking forward to see how you conclude Song of the Eastern Sands–this first part of it, anyway. And does that mean (dare I even hope?) that the week after that will be Western Deep Chapter 3? Because the height of that cliffhanger cannot be measured.
Good luck at the con!! And, yeah, Jerijune is so talented!! Not only with drawing, but picturing scenes and bringing in the humor, too!

13 months and counting, but our long wait is finally nearing an end!
