I believe that at its most fundamental core, the act of improvisation simply requires that you never, ever say “no.” Anyone who’s ever done improv will offer up a simple means of getting in the right headspace: every time somebody suggests something outlandish, preposterous, dangerous, or otherwise insane, you counter with “Yes! And-!” It’s a game of continuity and oneupmanship.

Suffice it to say, Janik, Mitra, and Rook are all really bad at improv.

Kickstarter news is scarce for the moment, but I do have a few updates to offer up!

First, we’ve placed the order for the Quin/Dak enamel pins. There were a few back-and-forth issues we needed to iron out with the pin provider, but it was typical stuff and nothing to get worried about.

We’re also in the process of locking down our printer for the books. We want to make sure that we get the best possible product out to everyone who backed us, and we’re hoping to have an update this upcoming week.

Lastly, we’re getting ready to send out the digital Volume One PDFs and a Discord invite to everyone who selected a pledge tier. The way we’re thinking the latter will work is, users will receive a Discord invite code that will allow them to join our server as a “Newcomer”, with access to that one channel. By checking in with a moderator, we’ll be able to manually verify your email address with your username and get you full Discord server privileges.

The restricted channel and manual verification steps are simply there to ensure that we know who’s getting invited into the server, and that only backers have that permission for the time being. If you didn’t back the comic and are interested in joining the server, don’t fret! We’ll have opportunities for folks to join later on.

I wanted to take the opportunity this week to begin posting up new Guest Art! I do apologize for falling off with that. I assure you that while we haven’t posted new guest art in quite some time, we’ve still been receiving quite a bit of it in the interim. I’m looking forward to sharing them with you!

This piece, from user Cinivius, features a tamian warrior being ambushed somewhere in the forest by forces unknown! Who could it be raining arrows down upon them? I guess we’ll never know–but that tamian looks ready to take on all comers with their treewalker blade!

Thank you so much for sending this in, Cinivius!

Lastly, I wanted to take a moment to give a proper shout out to a few folks:

First, if you’re one of our readers who checked out Aikonia a long time ago (it’s been floating on the right-hand side of our website for several years!) then you might be interested to know that after a two-year hiatus, they’re finally posting again! You can check it out from the sidebar link, or from here: https://aikoniacomic.com/

Second, and speaking of fun webcomics, Evan Dahm’s Vattu has kept me in its grips for many years. He just recently began posting pages for the fourth chapter of his sprawling and incredible politically-driven (and very Western Deep-like) webcomic series. He’s also in the midst of a Kickstarter for his third printed volume, which launched right around when ours finished. I recommend checking it out here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/evandahm/vattu-the-tower-and-the-shadow

Lastly, there’s another fun Kickstarter going on! DM Cumbo’s colorful take on the world and characters of Yooka-Laylee! Regardless of where you landed on the game itself, this graphic novel appears to be taking the best elements of Playtonic’s world and turning it into a vibrant, humorous standalone tale. Check it out here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dreamprismpress/yooka-laylee-and-the-kracklestone

See you all next week!
