I know I definitely sound like a broken record at this point, but time is definitely running out to cast your vote in this year’s Ringo Awards–just a couple weeks left! If you haven’t cast a ballot yet, please do consider Beyond the Western Deep for “Best Webcomic” and any other categories you’d like to vote us in for! https://ringoawards.survey.fm/ringo-awards-2021-nominations

Hefting Hardin over his shoulders like a sack of potatoes certainly isn’t the most dignified way to carry an ermehn warlord, but Kenosh needs to cover a fair bit of ground in a fairly short period of time, so… yeah, sorry Hardin! It’s a fireman’s carry for you!

I also really love how Rachel used this moment to highlight Bevan’s inner conflict–focusing on his reaction to the words instead of the one speaking them. It gives us just enough information to intuit the subtext without explicitly stating it, which as I’ve explained in previous posts can be a little tricky in comic form; possibly bogging down the pacing of a page if not handled properly.

WE’RE DOING A CONVENTION AGAIN!

I’m pleased to announce that Western Deep will be making an appearance in Artist Alley at this year’s Rose City Comic Con in Portland, Oregon! The show runs from September 10th-12th, and we’ll be expecting to have Volume 1 and 2 hardcovers, pins, prints, and T-SHIRTS. That’s right–that batch of shirts we had made for Emerald City before it was cancelled last year? They’ll be making their debut at RCCC!

The image on the shirt is the same one from the Limited Edition cover of Volume 2, with a white design featuring Clovis and the Sratha-din over black. Very cool stuff!

When our table assignment is sent out, we’ll be sure to post it up on our Twitter account first. And by the way, if you’re not following us there, you totally should! We RT fans, announce new pages and Western Deep initiatives, and also post up stuff related to conventions (well–NOW we will, anyway–since conventions are slowly coming back).
